How long is a trademark valid?

What is the difference between a trademark and a design?
A design protects the external appearance or shape of a product, while a trademark protects the identity of your brand (name, logo, or slogan). Both can complement each other in protecting your business.
Where is my trademark protected?
A national trademark protects you in one country.
An EU trademark (EUTM) protects you in all 27 EU member states with a single application.
An international trademark (via the Madrid System) allows you to extend protection to multiple countries worldwide.
How much does it cost to register a trademark?
- Costs depend on the jurisdiction (EU, UK, Benelux, or international filings) and the number of classes of goods/services. Our pricing is transparent and published on our Fees page. Please note that all prices are listed without VAT, which is added where applicable.
How does payment processing work?
Most of our attorney network requires payment before filing your application.
For EU trademark applications, the procedure is slightly different:
Your application is first submitted, and you immediately receive an official confirmation and online EUIPO link. Payment is later completed directly with the EUIPO. This ensures that your filing date is secured, even if payment is made afterwards.
How long does it take to register a trademark?
- EU trademarks: usually 4–6 months if no opposition arises.
- UK and national filings: 3–6 months on average.
- International filings: vary depending on the countries selected.
Do I need a lawyer to file a trademark?
